Personal Tax Accountant / Advisor – Malaysia (Foreign-Sourced Income, Expat Individual)

For an individual investor who has relocated to Malaysia and looking for a Malaysia-licensed tax agent to advise on and file his personal taxes going forward. This is not a standard local-income return: nearly all his income are foreign-sourced.

His situation:

• He trades US and other international equity/derivatives markets through foreign brokerage accounts (not the Malaysian market).
• He plans to hold GCC and Turkish sukuk purchased through a Malaysian bank, with income paid from abroad into my Malaysia bank account.
• He receives rental income from a property he owns in Dubai, transferred to his Malaysia bank account.

What he needs:

• Confirmation of his Malaysian tax residency status and how it applies to his case, along with how the foreign-sourced income (FSI) exemption (currently running through 2036) applies to each of the income streams above, including whether his trading gains are treated as capital in nature versus business income.
• Practical guidance on structuring things properly: what records/documentation he should keep, how to evidence that FSI qualifies for exemption (e.g. proof of tax treatment in the source country), and anything he should be doing differently now to stay compliant and avoid problems later.
• Ongoing preparation and filing of his annual Malaysian personal tax return (and any required FSI declarations), plus availability for occasional questions through the year.

Requirements:

1. Real experience with expatriate/foreign individuals, foreign-sourced income exemption cases, and ideally cross-border investment income (foreign brokerage gains, sukuk/bond income, foreign rental income).
2. Comfortable working with a client based in Malaysia but with all income sources abroad.
