Alwin Toa Software Engineer I’m a backend developer with two years of hands-on experience building systems for government agencies and small-to-medium businesses. My work sits mostly in Python, Java and Typescript: designing APIs, structuring databases, and making sure the architecture holds up as the project grows.
Government work taught me to build for reliability, clear documentation, and requirements that shift halfway through. SME work taught me to move fast and keep things simple enough for a small team to maintain after I hand it over. Both taught me that the real skill is asking the right questions before writing a single line of code.
I’m also the person people call when something breaks and nobody knows why. Debugging is genuinely one of my favourite parts of the job.
