Project Overview
Samo Trading is an international trading business based in Malaysia. We are expanding our supply chain operations and require an experienced, results-driven Freelance Logistics & Freight Forwarding Specialist to streamline our import/export workflows, optimize ocean/air freight booking, and manage our port clearance procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Shipment Coordination: Manage end-to-end international freight bookings (ocean and air) from origin factories to our Malaysian distribution hubs.
  
• Customs Compliance: Review, prepare, and verify all necessary shipping documentation, including Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Bills of Lading (B/L), and Malaysian customs declaration forms (K1, K2, K9).
  
• Vendor Management: Act as the primary point of contact for shipping lines, local customs brokers, freight forwarders, and haulage companies to ensure competitive rates and timely cargo release.
  
• Troubleshooting: Proactively resolve any shipping delays, port detentions, or customs clearance bottlenecks at major hubs (e.g., Port Klang, Penang Port, or KLIA).
  
• Cost Optimization: Review freight quotations and shipping invoices to audit and minimize demurrage and detention charges.Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Proven experience handling import/export operations and logistics within Malaysia.
    
  • Strong familiarity with Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) regulations, tariff codes (HS Codes), and documentation requirements.
    
  • Active, existing relationships with local freight forwarders and customs brokers is highly preferred.
    
  • Excellent negotiation skills and fluent communication in English and Bahasa Melayu.Project Terms & Location
    • Location: Remote / Work-from-Home (Must be based in Malaysia to comfortably coordinate with local port authorities and vendors during Malaysian business hours).
      
    • Project Type: Milestone-based freelance contract with the potential for long-term monthly structural retention based on performance.
      
    • Budget: Open to negotiation based on your depth of experience and active freight agent networks. (Please state your hourly or per-shipment rate in your proposal).
